Loop Telecom Mux Solutions

Loop Telecom's popular line of Access DCS-MUXs are devices that help customers switch and groom their circuit-based traffic for high speed transport as well as providing low-speed downlink access in a variety of different interfaces and formats. Our most popular device, the AM3440, is a powerful yet flexible rack-based system. The large variety of mini, single, and dual-slot cards means it can be customized exactly to the customer's specifications. Typical interfaces are IP, E1, RS232, C37.94, V.35, X.21 etc

What Is a Multi-Service Access Multiplexer?

A multiplexer — or "mux" — combines multiple types of traffic onto a single transport link, and separates them back out again at the other end. Loop Telecom's Access Multiplexer range takes this further: it acts as a digital cross-connect, a protocol bridge, and a transport platform in one modular chassis.

In practical terms, this means a single device can take in traffic from older TDM systems (E1/T1 circuits, analogue voice, serial data links) alongside newer IP and Ethernet traffic, and carry it all reliably across your network — without forcing a wholesale, disruptive upgrade of every piece of equipment on site.

  • Non-blocking cross-connect / DACS function — it provides a full non-blocking DS0 cross-connect matrix for up to 28 x E1 + 64 Bundles, so it can act as a mini digital cross-connect system, grooming and routing traffic flexibly rather than needing dedicated hardware per circuit.

  • Legacy-to-packet bridging — it supports SAToP/CESoPSN/MEF8 pseudowire protocols to carry TDM data streams with timing intact over a packet-switched network, meaning old TDM equipment can ride over modern IP/Ethernet transport without losing sync.

  • Modular, hot-swappable design — a hot-pluggable mini-slot design gives access to E1, FXS, FXO, E&M, RS232, X.21, C37.94 and V.35 interfaces among others, so one chassis can be configured per site rather than forcing a fixed hardware profile on every customer.

  • Remote visibility and control — it supports SNMPv1/v3 and is managed through Loop-iNET and Loop-iNMS, giving centralised monitoring across a whole fleet of devices rather than site-by-site management.

Why Work With Us on Your Mux and Tele-Protection Deployment

Loop Telecom builds the hardware — but a mux is only as good as the network and power design it sits inside. That's where we come in.

We handle the parts that make the difference between "it's installed" and "it just works, every time":

  • Right-sizing the solution — matching the module mix and configuration to your actual site requirements, not a generic off-the-shelf setup

  • Integration with power and resilience — since a mux is only as reliable as the power behind it, we design these solutions as part of your broader connectivity and power resilience strategy

  • Local installation and support — a local point of contact for deployment, configuration, and ongoing support, not an offshore reseller relationship

  • Whole-of-life support — as your network evolves, we help plan the next step, whether that's expanding capacity or migrating further toward IP

  • Tele-Protection interfaces – C37.94, E1, and IP
